Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
As the title suggests, uncharted 3 is the sequel to uncharted 2. The game was released for PS3 in 2011. In the game, Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan travels around the world to places such as the Rub' al Khali desert, in search of the legendary lost city the Iram of the Pillars, which is mentioned in the Quran. Elena Fisher and Chloe Frazer also return in the game. As promised, I am going to give a quick review about the game.
Nate takes on multiple enemies
Same as the previous sequels, Drake is able to perform a huge number of actions, for instance jump, climb, swim, scale narrow ledges, etc. However, in this game, Drake can take on enemies in more ways than before: hand to hand combat with multiple enemies, more contextual melee attacks and new stealth options. Drake can carry 1 pistol and 1 rifle and up to 4 grenades at a single time. You can still switch existing weapon by picking up the weapons dropped by the enemies and additional ammunition from them.
You can now take cover behind nearly every single objects, for example, corners, walls, stones, etc and you can use either aimed or blind-fire to take out your enemies. You also can fire while moving, with reduced accuracy for sure. You can still attempt to use stealth to take on your enemies, either by sneaking behind them or dropping down onto an enemy whilst you are hanging from a ledge. The stealth mechanic has also been simplified and improved with higher accuracy. Some areas of the game will require the player to solve puzzles with the use of Drake's journal, which provides clues towards the puzzles' solutions. When enabled, a hint system provides gameplay clues, such as the direction of the next objective.

Online gameplay
Similar to Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 includes a separate multiplayer component with network play, featuring competitive and cooperative modes of play. The beta features several customization options, such as different character skins, clown masks, ability boosters, skill medals to attain, and a progressive ranking system. Uncharted 3 will introduce free-for-all modes such as standard deathmatch, character model and weapon modification, and dynamic environmental 'events' within multiplayer maps, similar to the set pieces from the game's campaign - such as a hostile plane flying above shooting all players it catches in its crossfire. Collectible treasures are also said to be available within the multiplayer maps, which can be used as in-game currency for unlocking new characters, customization equipment and boosters. Unlocked customizations can either allow for changes to be made in character appearance, such as clothing and skin tone, or upgrading weapon attributes.
A Buddy System has also been implemented into multiplayer. At the beginning of each match, the player may be joined with a random partner or a friend if joining their game. The buddy's emblem remains displayed as part of the player's HUD to indicate their location relative to the player's own on the map. With your Buddy, you can do a cooperative taunt over dead enemies you defeated together, and can also collect each other's earned treasures for them. The player is able to spawn next to his buddy so long as the buddy remains alive and out of combat. With the aim of making the multiplayer more flexible and accessible, several logistical improvements have been added, such as the capability to join games in progress or for two different PlayStation Network accounts to play together in split-screen multiplayer on a single console. In the event of ties or near-ties, matches enter an elimination mode as they wind down, in which the players are restricted to one life and must compete to wipe out all of the opposing team's members first within the allotted remaining time.

Stunning graphic of the game
As with Uncharted 2, the art style is artificially vibrant. All of the images are fairly realistic. But the colors of the environment are sharper and brighter than you would ordinarily see in real life, as if you were looking at life through the lenses of the best nature photographers. This effect is so well done that you’ll spend time just marveling at the detailed objects that are part of every colorful scene. Like when you jump to a wire and a pigeon flutters off of it.
They can also bring game play to a momentary standstill. When you’re on a city rooftop, you can pause for a moment and see a gorgeous skyline for miles and miles. Uncharted 3 is simply one of the prettiest games you’ll ever see. There are so many beautiful moments in this game, like sand billowing through the desert, light breaking through a green forest in France, gun battles in the middle of a sandstorm, light coming through the stained glass of a French château, and that château going down in flames as Drake and his body Sully try to escape a conflagration. You haven’t seen bright orange until it fills your entire screen as you look down while Drake is dangling by one arm from a staircase, looking down on the maelstrom below.

Inside the chateau
Besides the visual senses, the other sense that Uncharted 3 tickles is humor. The game retains that wonderful deadpan sense of humor that Uncharted 2 had. The enemies never joke around. They exist only to be mean and to be shot. But humor is what sets apart our band of thieves, and it distinguishes the game from most other overly serious games in the industry.
Early on, Sully says, “Then we track them back to their hole.” And Drake responds, “You do realize you make everything seem so dirty?” At one point in an abandoned French château, Drake sees an ornate red cabinet and asks, “Is that a popcorn machine?” The game’s self-referential humor is always there. Drake always has to ask Sully for a light, as they pass through tunnels and caverns. Sully says, “You know, one of these days you’re going to have to start carrying your own matches.”

Solving a puzzle
The puzzles are mind benders that force the player to consult Drake’s journal or others he finds along the way for clues. You have to solve these puzzles that are literally built into the environment to get around barriers, open secret passages, or simply scale buildings. The puzzles are not easy, but they are not so difficult that you will give up in frustration, as happens in many games. As with Uncharted 2, much of the game play is physics-based, where you interact with the environment in a real way. In this game, one new feature is you can shoot at pillars and cause them to collapse, causing a whole building or roof to cave in.
Riding a horse
The problem of having only two guns is that you don’t know which type of enemy you will face next. A Tau sniper pistol can penetrate the armor of any of the bosses, but it only has six shots. The Tau is a great prize to hang onto, but what if you also have an eight-shot grenade launcher as your big weapon? If the next scene has a host of enemies, you’re up the creek. But the good thing is that it almost always pays to take the rare weapon with you. You can shoot an enemy down and pick up a generic pistol or machine gun if you need a high-ammo gun.
One of the car chases in the game has Drake jumping from a running horse to a moving truck. That’s cool the first time you do it. But what about the next 10, as Drake tries to take down an entire caravan this way? The horse never gets tired.

Final boss fight
Some of the boss fights are tough. But the super boss fights are annoyingly so. They get so repetitive that you start seeing the same battle animations over an over again. If I’m going to have a battle that has dozens of sequences to it, I want dozens of animations.
Overall, the game is amazing, I would even say that it is even more amazing than the uncharted 1 or 2. The graphics is stunning, the motions of the characters are developed in such details, you can even see the spark of light inside their eyes, as they were speaking to you. Everything that Drake's Deception attempts, it pulls off with flying colors. This is a beautiful, cohesive, and, most importantly, fun adventure that cements the Uncharted franchise as one of the best around. More of a good thing is welcome here. You'll laugh with joy, yelp with excitement, and, above all else, be thankful that you're playing something as expertly crafted as Drake's Deception.
