Final Fantasy 13 PS3
Final Fantasy 13
Final Fantasy 13 is the first final fantasy high definition (HD) game that is released on PS3 in 2009 in Japan and 2010 in North America. Final Fantasy 13, together with God of War 3 are the largest PS3 games ever released, even until today, with a record of around 40gb. Personally I do like this first HD final fantasy game.
This entire game takes place in the floating world Cocoon. The government, Sanctum is ordering a purge of civillians who have come into contact with Pulse. Lightning, the main female character of the game begins to fight against the government in order to save her sister. Her sister, Serah has been branded as a servant, called l'Cie to serve a god-like being called fal'Cie. Each servant is branded with a symbol to represent either Pulse or Cocoon and he is then given a Focus, which is a task to complete. If the l'Cie manages to complete the focus, he will then be transformed into a crystal and gain ternal life, otherwise they become mindless monster called Cie'th. The l'Cie is not told his focus, he will need to interpret and figure out himself.

Playable characters in Final Fantasy 13
There are 6 main playable characters in the game, namely Lightning, a female soldier who tries to rescue her sister, Snow Villiers, Serah's fiancee and leader of NORA, Oerba Dia Vanille, an exile who is a l'Cie from Pulse, Sazh Katzroy, a civilian pilot and father to Dajh, Hope Eshteim, a young boy who is having problems within the relationships with his parents and Oerba Yun Fang, a l'Cie from Pulse as well. We start the game with the citizens of Bodhum being purged after coming into contact with Pulse. Snow, the leader of the resistance group NORA is trying to rescue his fiancee. In the battle, many people are killed, including Hope's mother. Snow finally meets with Serah at the moment when she turns to crystal. All the characters are turned into l'Cie afterwards and they are cast out into a different part of Cocoon. Snow meets with Cid and Fang after being captured while trying to rescue Serah. In the meantime, others are separated with Hope and Lightning travel to Palumpolum while Sazh and Vanille travel to Nautilus. Confilicts arise when Snow finally meets with Hope and is told that he has killed Hope's mother because of his group NORA. The same goes with Sazh and Vanille when Sazh finally learns that Vanille is responsible for turning his son, Dajh into a l'Cie. The party meets up once again and travels to Pulse together. They learn more about their focus throughout the entire journey and they head towards Orphan. They manage to defeat Orphan and Vanille and Fang sacrifice themselves and turn into Ragnarok to prevent a collision between falling Cocoon and Pulse by creating a crystal pillar between the 2 worlds. The game ends with the awakeing of the party from their crystallization and the reuniting moment with Serah and Dajh.
Lightning's final weapon, Omega Weapon
The battle system of this game is quite simple. There is no leveling up involved and throughout the entire game you only have 6 summons in all. Like usual, each character can be equipped with his own unique weapons. Each weapon has different effect and you can upgrade it by using items either bought at the shop (save point) or dropped by some random monsters. However, if you wish to upgrade it to its final form, you will need to save up a lot of money (gil). Normally, this can be done by farming for platinum ingot dropped by Adamantortoise in the late game (3 million plus HP) which can be sold for 150k gils. Another thing is that you will also need some catalysts in order to upgrade your weapons from 1 version to another and normally they can be obtained by some random drops by specify enemies.
Paradigm systems with different roles
One of the unique features of the game is the introduction of the Paradigms Systems. In this game, each character has his own roles and you can only directly control 1 character in a battle. For other characters, you can however attribute diferrent roles at certain times to them depending on your need. One thing to bear in mind is that if the single character in which you are controlling is KO'ed, it will be a game over even though other characters still have their HP left. To prevent this, you can just simply switch 1 character's role to medic at certain points to heal other characters. In the later game, each character can be attributed to 6 different roles, namely Commando (Com), Ravager (Rav), Sentinel (Sen), Saboteur (Sab), Synergist (Syn) and Medic (Med) and the switch between paradigms can be carried out in less than 1 second.
Crystarium system
We still have the same Crystarium System for the developpement of each character. Throughout every fight, each character earns Crystal Points (CP) which can then be used to learn new skills or to increase his stats in the crystarium system. In the late game, each character will have 6 cystarium systems attributed to their 6 different roles. This means that you can decide which skill you want to learn first for each character by spending te CP earned. In the late game, namely in the phase 8, 9 and 10, tons of CP will be needed for the developpement of the characters and this can be easily achieved by fighting Behemoth King and Megistotherian who are fighting against each other just beside one of the save point in Pulse.
Lightning summoning Odin
Just like I said before, there is no leveling up in the game, all is replaced by the crystarium system. Summons in this game are called eidolons and there are only 6 of them in total. Each character is given a specify eidolon at a certain point through the entire game. For example, Lighting is forced to fight against Odin when she is kind of lost in her resolve. After defeating Odin, it becomes her eidolon in the later game. You can then summon Odin in any battle by consuming 3 Technical Points (TP). These TP are will be restored slowly by achieving good rank, namely 5 stars in each fight. The rank is determined by a complex logarithme system which includes many factors such as battle duration, paradigm systems used, the number of enemies defeated and other factors.
Final Fantasy 13
Personally, I really like this HD final fantasy game in PS3. The graphics is very nice, each character is designed with very detailled features. The view of the surrouding environment especially Pulse is stunning as well. The story line is very good too. Each character has different emotions and they were leaded by their fate to fight together as a group in the late game only after encountering countless conflicts between them. For example, Hope's mother, Nora is dead all because she joins in the NORA group leaded by Snow to fight against the soldier during the Purge. Ever after this incident, Hope seeks only for vengeance. In the middle of the game, Hope is trying to stab Snow in his hometown Palumpolum. Upon failing and later being saved by Snow in the ensuing fracas, Snow and Hope settle their dispute and continue on through the story. Click here if you wish to buy the game.
