God of War 2 PS2
God of War 2
2 years after the release of God of War 1 on the platform ps2, the second episode of the series was released into the market. In it, Kratos is stripped of godhood by Athena, his onetime liege, as punishment for his ruthless abuse of his godly powers in the favor of his Spartan subjects on the Earth below. Although no longer a god, Kratos still possesses his combat acumen, as well as his burning self-righteousness, which will no doubt serve him well as he adventures through ancient Greece in an attempt to restore what was taken from him.
First released in 2007, the game features four times as many bosses and improved puzzles in comparison to the original. With more than 4.2 million copies sold worldwide as of June 2012, God of War II, along with the original God of War, were remastered and released on November 17, 2009 as part of the God of War Collection for the PlayStation 3 video game console.

Kratos fighting against the Colossus of Rhodes
The protagonist of the game is Kratos, a Spartan warrior who became the God of War after killing the god Ares. He is shunned by other gods and still haunted by nightmares from his past. He supports a Spartan army that is ravaging Greece. Ignoring a warning from the goddess Athena that his lust for revenge is alienating the other gods, Kratos joins the Spartans in an attack on the city of Rhodes. During the battle, however, a giant eagle drains him of his godly powers and also animates the Colossus of Rhodes.
The Spartan is offered the Blade of Olympus by Zeus after a series of skirmishes with the statue. He only needs to infuse the blade with the remaining of his godly power. He still manages to defeat the Colossus although he is now a mortal. But, he is mortally wounded in the attempt. Zeus comes and reveals himself as the eagle, saying that he was forced to intervene as Athena refused to unto what Zeus refers to as "her mistake". Kratos is then granted with one final opportunity to be a loyal servant of the gods. However, he refuses and is killed by Zeus with the Blade of Olympus. Zeus then destroys the invading Spartan army.

Kratos flying on Pegasus
Kratos is then dragged into the Underworld slowly, but he is saved by the Titan Gaia, Mother of Earth. Gaia explains that he must find the Sisters of Fate, who can change his fate and prevent his death at the hands of Zeus. Kratos is then helped by a Pegasus, which directs him to find Gaia's brother Typhon and enlist his aid. He finally finds the Titan is imprisoned in an arctic location under a mountain after an aerial battle with griffins and harpies. Typhon is angered at the intrusion and imprisons Pegasus, trapping the Spartan in his lair. He is then forced to explore the area. Kratos then battles with tons of foes until finally encountering the former Titan Prometheus who was trapped in mortal form and then chained and tortured at Zeus' directive for giving the gift of fire to mankind. Prometheus begs for release from his torment, and to achieve this, Kratos finds and confronts Typhon. Kratos steals the Titan's magical bow and uses it to blind the Titan, with an angered Typhon swearing vengeance. He returns to Prometheus, and uses the weapon to kill the Titan who chooses death by fire. The power of the Titans is released, which Kratos absorbs into himself. By using the Titan's power, the Spartan frees the Pegasus and heads for the Island of Creation.
Kratos fighting with the Barbarian King
Kratos also learns from Gaia that she once raised a young Zeus, who, on reaching manhood, betrayed her and waged war against all Titans for the cruelty inflicted on his siblings by his father, Cronos. Kratos will then battle with a number of enemies, including Theseus, an undead version of his old foe, the Barbarian King, the gorgon Euryale, Perseus, and Icarus (both of whom are also seeking the Sisters of Fate). Finally, he encouters the imprisoned Titan Atlas. At the first glance, the angered Titan resents Kratos as he was responsible for the Titan's current predicament. The Spartan, however, explains his intent, and Atlas reveals that Gaia and the other Titans seek revenge on Zeus as they were punished and humiliated by the gods after their defeat in the Great War. After revealing that the Blade of Olympus is the key to Zeus' defeat, Atlas aids Kratos by helping him reach the Palace of the Fates.
The 3 sisters of fate
After encountering lots of monsters, Kratos battles with an unseen foe, who is revealed to be a loyal Spartan soldier. Before dying, the soldier reveals that Zeus has completed his revenge by destroying Sparta in Kratos' absence. An outraged Kratos is given even greater power by Gaia, who encourages him to continue to pursue the death of Zeus. Finally, he finds and frees a phoenix, riding the creature to the Sisters' stronghold where he confronts two of the three Sisters – Lakhesis and Atropos. After a series of fierce battles (including a failed attempt by the Sisters to change the outcome of Kratos' battle with Ares), Kratos kills both the sisters. Then, he confronts the final Sister, Clotho. After killing Clotho, the Spartan uses the Loom of Fate to return to the point at which Zeus betrayed him.
Final battle with Zeus
Surprising Zeus and seizing the Blade of Olympus, the pair battle with Kratos incapacitating Zeus. Athena intervenes and begs Kratos to stop, saying that by killing Zeus, he will destroy Olympus. Kratos ignores Athena's pleas and attempts to kill Zeus, but Athena sacrifices herself and is impaled by the Blade of Olympus. Upon dying, Athena reveals that he is Zeus' son, and that Zeus was afraid that he would usurp him, as he himself did to his father, Cronos. Kratos declares the time of the gods is at an end, and travels back in time, rescuing the Titans just prior to their defeat in the Great War. Returning with the Titans to the present, the gods watch as their former foes climb Mount Olympus. Standing on the back of Gaia and wielding the Blade of Olympus, Kratos tells Zeus he has brought the destruction of Olympus.
O smashing
The battle system of the game is almost the same as the previous one. For example, we still have the old O-mashing. There are numerous times in the game where you’re going to have to mash away (tap rapidly) on the O button. A simple example of this is when you open a large door; you have to press O fairly quickly to simulate Kratos flexing his muscles and lifting the door. O-mashing can be complicated if you actually use your thumb to do it; it is difficult to move the thumb up and down rapidly enough to complete some of the more strenuous mashing challenges. So, if you are having a hard time with any of the O-mashing sequences, it usually helps to remove your thumb from the button and use your index finger instead. The movement required to move the index finger up and down is much smaller than it is for the thumb, so doing this can help you get more button pressed in more quickly. There are going to be a lot of button-pressing minigames as well. In those games, you have to hit a certain face button after it pops up on the screen. If you hit the button correctly, you will move on to the next part of the animation; if you miss, you will usually wind up having to start the whole thing over, if not take a lot of damage from the opponent that you are dealing with. The button games are easy in the beginning, but will get progressively harder as time goes on.
Kratos' combos
Next, we will have the Kratos' roll maneuver to evade the enemy's attack. Although it will be primarily used to evade attack, it is important to use the roll to put some distance between you and any enemies nearby. The advantage of Kratos' Blades of Athena is their long-range usefulness. As you near closer range, roll away using the right-analog stick and restart your combination attacks. If you are close, an enemy can strike and interrupt combo strings. A solid pattern would be to perform a combo that knocks down enemies, perform a multi-hit strike to damage the prone foe, and then roll away and repeat the sequence. Throwing an enemy is one of the best way to increase your survivability in the game. Pressing O button when you are near an enemy will cause you to grab him and perform a variety of throw effects on him. The throw effects can vary from time to time, depending on the next button you press. The square button will typically throw them around bodily, while pressing O again will start mauling them at close range, and so on. (Note that a good number of enemies, especially later in the game, can't be thrown until you deal a certain amount of damage to them.) One of the feature that I like while throwing an enemy is that you cannot be hit by weapons or enemy attacks. In a huge group of foes, you can concentrate on throwing a single small opponent around until he dies, then repeat the process on the next small enemy until everyone's dead. This works especially well when large, unthrowable enemies, like cyclopes, are surrounded by low-level annoyances, like soldiers or imps. Concentrate on throwing the lower-level enemies around, since you will be invulnerable while you do so, then deal with the bigger foes when you have cleared out the area.
Barbarian Hammer and Blades of Olympus
We are now going to talk about weapons available in the game. You will spend most of the time with just one weapon, Athena's Blades. Eventually, you will be carrying more than 2 weapons around. Since you only have one weapon switch button, you can only switch between the Athena's Blades and one other weapon at a time. To change weapons, hit Start and press O to cycle between the weapons that you want to select when you switch weapons. Athena's Blades are always equipped and can't be changed out. Athena's Blades are the primary weapons that you will have in the beginning of the game. You will only have a second weapon until you are deep into the game, so I will suggest you to make the most of the blades by upgrading them fully before dealing with other weapons that you possess. Personally, I use the blades more than any other weapons since they have a longer range and a wider variety of attacks. The other weapon that you are going to have is the Barbarian Hammer from the Barbarian King boss. As you might be able to tell by looking at it, it’s going to be slow and ponderous to use, although it does do a lot of damage. Personally, I don't really bother to upgrade the weapon and rearely use it after obtaining it. For some other players, they might find it useful at certain points of the game though. But, its slow attacks will often leave you vulnerable to damage and the fact that you cannot dodge while holding it will screw up your combat routines. Some enemies, however, such as skeletons, seem to be especially weak to the hammer’s attacks. The Spear of Destiny will only appear until late in the game. Basically, it is a two-handed staff that will whip itself around you and cause damage to most nearby foes when swung. When upgraded fully, the spear makes it relatively easy to deal with large crowds of smaller enemies with the Unfortunate Remains and Altering Slash moves. Most of your enemies will spend more time getting knocked around than they will on their feet. The Blade of Olympus only appears twice in the game, once near the beginning, and once near the end. As such, thinking up a huge strategy for wielding it is overkill; you swing it, you hit your enemies, they die.
Typhon's Bane and Atlas Quake
For magical attacks, you are going to have a few more choices and they really do a great job in helping you beating the game. The first magical attack you receive in the game is Typhon’s Bane, a magical bow that can shoot gusts of wind at your foes. It is a pretty simple skill and it gains a couple of multiple-target effects at its highest rank. But, for most of the time, you are going to use it on distant enemy archers and will not bother with it on enemies that are close to you. However, during most of the boss fights, it will comes in handy, so upgrading it to level two is a good idea at some point during the game. For Cronos' Rage, it is great for stunning enemies and boosting your hit meter a huge amount at its early levels. When you hit the summon button, you let loose a ball of lightning that will zap nearby enemies, dealing them damage and knocking them around. You can then simply let the ball go and can continue to move around and attack while it does its thing, making this a perfect ability to use when you need to stay mobile, such as when you have to fight enemies and deal with puzzle sequences at the same time. Another magic that you have is the Head of Euryale. You can use it to cause petrification of almost any enemy that you come across. Petrified enemies will break free from their stone prison after a few seconds, but if you hit them enough while they are petrified, they will crumble and give you extra orbs for the kill. At maximum level, the Head of Euryale can freeze multiple opponents, making it useful in fights against large numbers of small enemies, but this will come at a significant mana price. If you specifically enjoy freezing enemies, then upgrade away, but you can easily get through the entire game without using this spell, save in very specific circumstances. The final spell that you are going to get in the game is the Atlas Quake. It does a huge amount of damage when upgraded and it allows you to damage enemies all around you. In the meantime, you can mash the O button to deal more damage and will render you immune to damage while you perform it. It is this last aspect of the spell that will probably make it most worthwhile to you. If you upgrade Atlas Quake to level two, each time you cast it you will gain around five seconds of complete immunity to any attack coming your way. Since this is one of the few spells that can actually stagger larger enemies, like gladiators and cyclopes, you are going to be getting two birds with one stone when using it to avoid their powerful attacks.
God of War 2
I have played this game more than 3 times and I still enjoy its gameplay so much, especially the boss fight scene. Taking a good example will be the last boss fight against Zeus which is the most anticipating and challenging at the same time. There are lots of mini-games involved in this fight and the fight is so intense that making a small mistake could even get you killed in an instant. As usual, there is also one sequence where you can involve in a sex scene in the game and this time, I don't really find it surprising. Well, if you have played the previous series, then I think you are well aware of it. If you wish to buy the game, please click it here.
